Gov. John Bel Edwards says FEMA has approved his request to activate a temporary housing program for thousands of Louisiana residents displaced by Ida.

The governor thanked the agency and the Biden administration for activating the Transitional Sheltering Assistance Program.

The program picks up the hotel tabs for people with damaged homes within 25 parishes affected by the hurricane.

Participating hotels can be found in Louisiana and nine surrounding or nearby states.
