Baton Rouge General Reports Increase In COVID Patients

The Baton Rouge General reported 54 patients are being treated for COVID-19 as of Wednesday, an increase of 21 since Monday.

Last week, the General saw just 24 patients due to the coronavirus.

Hospital officials say 95% of the cases are from those who are unvaccinated.

40% of the cases involve those under 50 years old. The average length of stay for patients under 50 is just over six days with patients in their 20s being treated for an average of nine days.

Cases are on the rise in Louisiana due to the delta variant of COVID-19.
