Over a dozen people who went tubing over the weekend on the Amite River are safe after being rescued from surging waters.

Officials with Tiki Tubing closed down on Sunday after 15 people were helped out of the water Saturday after strong currents made conditions unsafe.

Several minor injuries were reported, and at least one person was transported to a hospital for treatment.

This is the second tubing incident reported on the river this year following a fatal accident on Father's Day weekend.
