Masks will be an option at local public schools this fall.
Baton Rouge Public Schools Superintendent Sito Narcisse announced Monday that the school system will give kids the choice of whether or not to wear masks this coming school year.
Despite the changes, schools still require hand-washing, automated temperature checks and social distancing of three feet instead of six.
The news comes after Governor John Bel Edwards lifted the mask mandate in schools back in May.
