Officials are issuing a warning to residents to be on the lookout for scammers impersonating Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard.
Deputies say that some residents have received emails from senders claiming to be Sheriff Ard and seeking gift card donations for a Louisiana Sheriff's Association drive to benefit local veterans.
In a statement, Ard denounced the emails and said that they would not request donations in the form of gift cards.
Livingston Parish officials are asking anyone who has received a similar email to not respond.
