City of New Orleans spokesperson Beau Tidwell says production for the movie Emancipation is coming to New Orleans.
Tidwell confirmed yesterday that the runaway-slave drama starring Will Smith and directed by Antoine Fuqua would begin its filming schedule in Louisiana after leaving Georgia over a recently enacted law on voter access.
Emancipation tells the story of an escaped slave played by Smith who leaves a Louisiana plantation and joins the Union Army.
The movie is expected to begin production in June.
