Officials say they have arrested an LSU student accused of installing malware on hundreds of campus computers to mine crypto-currencies.

According to a bulletin released yesterday, LSU Police arrested 25-year-old Carlos Munoz-Salazar last Friday after discovering a USB drive he left in a computer.

Police say Munoz-Salazar installed his software on over 160 computers over two years and made around $2,500 in the scheme.

Court records show Munoz-Salazar is facing one count of computer tampering and fraud for every device he hacked into at the school.
