The East Baton Rouge Parish Metro Council has failed once again to pass a $5 million settlement with Alton Sterling's family.
The measure required seven votes to pass, but only garnered support from six council members.
The council previously failed to pass a judgment for Sterling's family in the wrongful death lawsuit against the city and other parties.
Wednesday's decision all but ensures the case will head to trial in March, unless next year's crop of Metro Council members decide to reverse course and offer up a settlement.
