Hurricane Delta continued to slowly strengthen as it moved through the Gulf of Mexico Thursday towards a forecasted landfall in southwest Louisiana, already reeling from Hurricane Laura's impacts.
The National Hurricane Center says Delta could once again reach major hurricane status before slightly weakening right before moving ashore.
Impacts from Delta are expected to be felt well east of the storm's center. Storm surge and wind are the major concerns for southeast Louisiana.

A Flash Flood Watch continues through Saturday afternoon for portions of southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi, including the following areas, in southeast Louisiana, Ascension, Assumption, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Livingston, Pointe Coupee, St. Helena, St. James, West Baton Rouge and West Feliciana. In southern Mississippi, Amite and Wilkinson.
