After a quiet week in the tropics, the National Hurricane Center is warning of possible development from a broad area of low pressure expected to form in the western Caribbean Sea later this week.
"Environmental conditions are expected to be conducive for some gradual development thereafter, and a tropical depression could form late this week or this weekend while the system moves slowly west-northwestward over the northwestern Caribbean Sea.," said a tropical weather outlook issued Monday.
The NHC is giving the area of concern a medium chance of development over the next five days.
