East Baton Rouge Parish Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome says she's "optimistic" the parish will meet Governor John Bel Edwards' Phase 3 criteria for bars to reopen.
On Thursday, Mayor Broome released a statement saying that she is confident the bars in the parish will be ready to reopen for on-premises consumption as early as Wednesday.
According to Governor Edwards, the parish would have to have two weeks of a COVID-19 positivity rate at or below 5% for this to happen.
Broome says if the parish's positivity rate does increase, tighter restrictions would have to be put back in place.
