One of the police officers involved in the fatal arrest of Alton Sterling in 2016 is being dismissed from a wrongful death lawsuit.
The lawyers for the family of Alton Sterling said yesterday they are planning to meet to discuss options after a judge dismissed Baton Rouge officer Howie Lake, II as a defendant.
Lake used a stun gun on Sterling during the arrest outside the Triple S Food Mart on North Foster Drive and never fired his firearm
Court records show former BRPD officer Blane Salamoni and others are still listed as defendants in the case, which is expected to go to trial in early 2021.
