The Denham Springs community is coming together to pray for the recovery of a high school football player who is hospitalized in serious condition.
During a candlelight vigil held last night, hundreds of well-wishers gathered to offer support for Remy Hidalgo, who collapsed this week while practicing with the Denham High School football team.
Hidalgo was airlifted to Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge but was later moved to Children's Hospital in New Orleans.
A social media post from Hidalgo's family said he is being treated with a machine designed to help with severe heart and lung issues.
