McKinley High School is closing its doors after a staff member tested positive for COVID-19.

On Thursday, a school spokesperson said the campus closed down temporarily for a "deep cleaning" due to the positive test.

Like most schools in the parish, McKinley High is only offering virtual classes until at least Labor Day but staff members have been physically working on the campus since August 3.

School officials said they were made aware of the new COVID-19 case Wednesday night, and there will be another "deep cleaning" if anyone else tests positive.

The school is scheduled to open back up on Monday for staff members.
