The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries says it has cited a woman for illegally releasing an exotic pet lizard that remains on the loose.
Officials said they ticketed 34-year-old Jennifer Myers yesterday for allowing the Nile monitor lizard to get free.
The two-and-a-half-foot lizard has been missing from its home in Walker since Sunday and will attack out of fear if approached.
The Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office is helping search for the animal and says Myers could face a fine of nearly $1,000 and 120 days in jail for letting it get loose.
