Baton Rouge Police To Crack Down On Large Gatherings

The Baton Rouge Police Department is cracking down on large gatherings throughout the city.

Over the weekend, Sergeant L'Jean McKneely said that the BRPD is rolling out "directive patrols" after eight people were shot at such a large gathering at a gas station on Plank Road in early July.

According to officials, the patrols will feature 30 to 40 officers from a variety of agencies that will work together to curb the gatherings and keep residents safe.

Law enforcement officers will be patrolling particularly between Plank and Evangeline streets while also going to other hotspots in and around the city.
