The Louisiana High School Athletics Association is looking at pushing the start of the high school football season to early October.

LHSAA Executive Director Eddie Bonine sent out a memo to schools on Wednesday with updates to the fall sports calendar.

The start of the high school football season was originally planned for August 24, but that may no longer be possible with the state still under Phase Two until at least August 28.

Sources say football could begin on October 8 while volleyball is slated for a September 8 start, and cross-country will open on August 31.
