New Orleans Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry is being given clearance to travel with the team to Florida for the NBA restart.

Team officials reported yesterday that the NBA had permitted the 65-year-old Gentry to join the Pelicans as they workout at Walt Disney World's Wide World of Sports Complex in preparation for a July 30 game against Utah.

Gentry, Spurs coach Gregg Popovich, and Rockets coach Mike D'Antoni have been under increased medical scrutiny by the NBA because of their ages, which put them in a high-risk category for COVID-19.

Pelicans coaches Jeff Bzdelik and Jamelle McMillian will not join the team in Orlando as McMillian is on maternity leave, and the 67-year-old Bzdelik was advised by doctors to stay in New Orleans.
