East Baton Rouge Parish School Board members are pushing forward with a plan to enroll members in a race education course following Connie Bernard's controversial comments.
On Monday, school board member Michael Gaudet said he will submit a proposal at an upcoming board meeting requiring the course for board members along with a series of anti-racism efforts.
In a statement, Gaudet said the board has a responsibility of mentoring and leadership which was "not met" by Bernard following her comments on the renaming of Robert E. Lee High School.
Bernard has faced calls for her resignation but said she has no plans to resign.
