East Baton Rouge Parish School Board member Connie Bernard is apologizing for a comment she made last week about the people demanding the name change of Lee High School.
Over the weekend, Bernard issued a statement saying that her comments were "insensitive" and that she "condemns" racial injustice in any form.
Bernard came under fire last week when she said that those offended by the name of Lee High School should "learn a little bit more about" Confederate General Robert E. Lee, for whom the school is named after.
In a board meeting on Thursday, members called for Bernard's resignation.
