Serial Killer's Conviction Tossed Out Following Supreme Court Ruling

A new trial is being scheduled for a man convicted of murder during an alleged killing spree across two parishes in 2017.

An attorney for Ryan Sharpe confirmed yesterday that his client's conviction for killing Brad DeFranceschi was tossed out following a U.S. Supreme Court ruling that verdicts cannot come from split juries.

Sharpe was originally found guilty by a jury vote of 11-1 for DeFranceschi's murder, which prosecutors say was one of three men killed by Sharpe in East Feliciana and East Baton Rouge parishes.

A new trial will now start on December 14th.
