Broome Launches "Mask Up EBR" Campaign

The East Baton Rouge Parish is announcing its 'Mask Up EBR' campaign in an effort to get more parish residents wearing masks.

Mayor Sharon Weston Broome partnered with Hanes Clothing Company to kick off the campaign through a wide-scale distribution of nearly 200,000 face masks for essential workers and vulnerable populations.

“We are all asked to love our neighbor. Show your love by wearing a face covering in public,” said Mayor Broome. “This can literally save a life. Our senior citizens are our post-war generation, we owe it to them; our essential workers are on the front line for our community, we owe it to them; our families are the inspiration to get through the pandemic as safely as possible, mask up for them. Who do you mask up for?”

Broome added that she urges people to continue practicing physical distancing, citing that many people are asymptomatic.

Residents are encouraged to take photos of themselves "masking up" for a loved one and share them on social media using #MaskUpEBR.
