Hundreds of families in the East Baton Rouge Parish are getting a special gift from the Cox Communications Connect2Compete program.
On Wednesday, the EBR Parish school system announced that 1,000 families in the area with school children will receive six months of free internet service.
According to reports, the organization donated $60,000 to meet the immediate needs of disadvantaged students in EBR.
The donation comes on the heels of Governor John Bel Edwards' announcement to shutter schools for the rest of this academic school year.
