A coronavirus community testing center that opened on the Baton Rouge General Mid-City campus Monday has run out of testing kits in just one day and is no longer accepting new referrals for now.
Mayor Sharon Weston Broome says referred patients should contact their doctor and that they are working to obtain more kits.
Broome added her COVID-19 group, made up of a group of medical professionals, is working to strengthen the existing testing requirements.
"The COVID-19 group requests that healthcare professionals act judiciously with their clinical judgement so that tests can be administered to our most vulnerable population when the tests become available," read a statement from the Mayor-President.
The center had tested nearly 400 patients.
Anyone experiencing symptoms should self-quarantine and contact their physician or call 211.
