Nearly a dozen LSU students are being kept from campus as a precaution after recently traveling to Italy.
LSU spokesman Ernie Ballard said Tuesday that the measure is precautionary because of a large number of coronavirus cases in Italy.
The students were all asked to "self-isolate prior to coming back to campus" after returning to the United States following various study abroad programs in Italy.
As of Sunday, Italy has reported a total of 1,694 cases of coronavirus in the country, with 34 people having died from the disease.
