A man is recovering after he crashed a stolen car into a tree which launched the engine into a nearby house.

Officials confirmed yesterday that Davin Alexander was injured when he smashed a stolen Jaguar into a tree on Old Hammond Highway while fleeing from the police.

The force of the crash sent the car's engine through the front door of a nearby residence injuring two people living inside.
