Police say they have arrested a man who attempted to avoid capture by jumping off a bridge in Livingston Parish.
Officials confirmed yesterday that 22-year-old Guthrie Ebey was taken into custody over the weekend after he pointed a rifle at Ascension Parish Sheriff Deputies during a high-speed chase, then jumped from a bridge along Highway 22 into the Amite River.
Ebey then swam to a nearby kayaker and clung to them until police divers pulled him from the water.
