Police say a man has died after being shot by an officer at the end of a 19-hour standoff in Baton Rouge.
The standoff started yesterday around 4 p.m. when Kieth Carter entered a home while attempting to flee from officers following a suspected drug deal.
Once inside, Carter armed himself with a gun, leading officers to call in the SWAT team.
The situation ended around 11 a.m. when Carter stepped out of the house and fired his weapon at officers, prompting them to return fire.
Carter was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
Police Chief Murphy Paul said the officers did everything in their power to keep the situation peaceful.
