In his 2019 Report to the Community, Baton Rouge Chief Murphy Paul reports overall crime in the city is down 10% so far this year.
The clearance rate for homicides is 58% this year so far, while there's been a 30% reduction in homicides overall.
Paul's mostly positive report came despite the police chief's report last month that nonfatal shootings with injury increased 27% over last year.
There have been 33 homicides within city limits, 40% of which were in a house or yard.
