First Confirmed Human Cases Of West Nile Virus For 2019 Found In Louisiana

The Louisiana Health Department is advising residents following the confirmation of human cases of West Nile Virus in the state.

Officials sent out an advisory yesterday saying there have been a total of five cases in Louisiana with two found in Washington Parish, and one each in the St. Tammany, East Baton Rouge, and Livingston parishes.

West Nile is transmitted by mosquitoes and tips to protect yourself include wearing insect repellent, long-sleeved clothing, and removing standing water from containers around homes.
