Construction is set to begin soon at the iconic Hotel Lincoln in Baton Rouge.

The hotel previously hosted musical legends such as Aretha Franklin, James Brown and Nat King Cole, but fell into despair years ago.

Local developers purchased the building and say the approval process for state and national tax credits should be finished in the next few weeks.

After that, design plans will be sent to the city for permits.

Developers say they'll begin breaking ground at the end of the year and expect the process to take between eight to ten months to complete.

The actual brick building will remain intact, and a lot of the inner structure will also be salvaged.
