The state may offer up the cash for five East Baton Rouge Parish drainage projects, which have stalled because of a lack of funding.
Parish officials must raise $40 million in order to receive $250 million that was earmarked as part of a congressional package.
The governor, East Baton Rouge's mayor, and U.S. reps say they have been working to find a funding source for the projects.
Yesterday, the governor's office announced that it may use the capital outlay process or state surplus to front the cash for the projects, though those options wouldn't be available until next year.
The five projects focus on Jones Creek, Ward Creek, Bayou Fountain, Beaver Bayou and Blackwater Bayou.
