Two Areas Of Interest For NHC Forecasters

Two tropical waves have low chances of further development over the next five days, the National Hurricane Center said Tuesday morning.

One, in the northeastern Caribbean Sea, is bringing heavy rainfall parts of Puerto Rico and will be a rainmaker for the Virgin Islands, Hispanola and to portions of the southeastern Bahamas as it moves west-northwestward. No significant development is expected during that time, but as the system moves towards the eastern coast of Florida and the northeastern Bahamasby the weekend, it might encounter "marginally" more favorable conditions, said a NHC forecaster in a tropical weather outlook, though the chances of that are at 10%.

Out in the far eastern tropical Atlantic, a tropical wave with a broad low pressure system is moving quickly westward at 15 to 20 miles per hour, producing what the NHC describes as a broad area of clouds with disorganized shower activity. Upper-level winds could become more favorable for development when the wave reaches the central Atlantic in a few days.
