Wednesday 4pm Update: Hurricane Watch Issued Along Louisiana Coast

The National Hurricane Center is bumping up the time frame for a tropical wave in the Gulf to become Tropical Storm Barry. That's now expected to happen by Thursday afternoon.

The 4pm update from the NHC has also issued a hurricane watch along the Louisiana coast from the mouth of the Mississippi River to Cameron, Louisiana.

The previous storm surge watch that starts at the mouth of the Pearl River was also extended westward to Intracoastal City.

Six to 10 inches of rain are possible across southeast Louisiana between now and next Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
