Tropical Storm Barry Expected By Thursday, Hurricane Before Landfall?

The National Hurricane Center is named Invest 92L a potential tropical cyclone and is issuing advisories on what's expected to become Tropical Storm Barry sometime on Thursday.

A Storm Surge Watch has been issued for Lower St. Bernard, Orleans, St. Charles, Upper Jefferson, Upper Plaquemines, and Upper St. Bernard.

A Storm Surge Watch and Tropical Storm Watch have been issued for Assumption, Lower Jefferson, Lower Lafourche, Lower Plaquemines, Lower Terrebonne, Upper Lafourche, and Upper Terrebonne.

Forecasters expect a tropical depression will form by Thursday morning and then become Tropical Storm Barry by Thursday night.

After that, Barry could become a hurricane by Saturday on a track that takes it towards south-central Louisiana.

Heavy rainfall remains the major threat from the system.
