92L Tuesday Evening Update: Near Certainty Of Tropical System By Thursday

The National Hurricane Center is now giving 92L a 90% chance of becoming a tropical depression in the next two days.

The broad area of low pressure was located over the Florida panhandle and the northeastern Gulf of Mexico Tuesday night, sparking off what the NHC calls "widespread but disorganized showers and thunderstorms."

Forecasters also warn of the likely need for tropical storm, hurricane and storm surge warnings along parts of the northern Gulf Coast on Wednesday, but adds it's "still too soon to determine the exact magnitude and location of these impacts."

Heavy rainfall remains the biggest threat from the system as it moves slowly westward in the Gulf over the coming days.
