The state Board of Elementary and Second Education has voted to close Laurel Oaks Academy in East Baton Rouge Parish.
The closure will take effect for the 2019-20 school year after BESE says the charter school had multiple law and policy violations.
The academy was in the news after the former principal was arrested for locking kindergarten students in a closet as discipline.
A special open house will be held at the Instructional Resource Center on July 2nd.
