Tornado Watch For Southeast Louisiana Until 5 p.m. Thursday

A tornado watch is in effect until Thursday afternoon for most of southeast Louisiana, as storms capable of producing a tornado move through the area.

Numerous tornado warnings have been issued this morning and there are reports of damage that might be due to a tornado. The National Weather Service will investigate.

In Baton Rouge, Mayor Sharon Weston Broome confirmed one death. The victim dies from injuries suffered while trying to get out of a stalled vehicle on a flooded street. Photos on social media showed cars flipped over in the parking of Baton Rouge General hospital on Picardy.

Law enforcement in St. James Parish reported a tornado 6 miles north of Convent that downed trees and power lines.

In Livingston Parish, there were reports of water inside businesses between Denham Springs and Walker
