(Baton Rouge, LA) -- Baton Rouge Police are urging local parents to perform more weapons checks. A summit was held on Saturday which sought to raise awareness about the dangers of keeping firearms at home. Police say parents should check their weapons at least once a week to make sure they're secured. Speakers at the event also recommended that parents monitor how much violence their children are exposed to on various forms of multi-media, including video games and movies.
