Driver Charged With Third DWI In Deadly Head-On Crash

(Ascension Parish, LA) -- Police say a man in custody is being charged with his third DWI in relation to a deadly head-on accident in Ascension Parish. The accident took place just before 11:30 p.m. last night on Highway 42 west of Highway 431. Investigators believe 28-year-old Greg Rivere was driving on highway 42 going east when he crossed the center line and hit 30-year-old Daniel Cox head on. Cox was wearing his seatbelt, but still died as a result of the accident. Rivere and a passenger were both transfered to the hospital for minor injuries. Rivere has been booked into the Ascension Parish Detention Center on multiple charges of vehicular homicide, negligent injuring and third-offense DUI.
