Baton Rouge Police Chief, Mayor Respond To Blackface Photo Of Two Cops

The Baton Rouge police chief and the city's mayor are apologizing for a racist photo of two cops that was taken more than 25 years ago just prior to an undercover drug operation.

Both white officers donned black makeup prior to the sting with the caption "Soul Brothers" appearing above the photo.

Chief Paul Murphy issued a statement yesterday saying "Blackface photographs were inappropriate then and are inappropriate today", while Mayor Sharon Weston Broome said that blackface "is not appropriate in any situation."

Murphy says no administrative action will be taken against one of the officers who is still employed by the police department due to a limitation's statute on internal officer investigations.
