Construction is underway for the new Ascension Neighborhood Hospital.
Baton Rouge General broke ground on the $30 million project on Thursday. It marks the expansion of the hospital system beyond Baton Rouge, as the new location is in Prairieville at La. 73 and Interstate 10.
The hospital is expected to provide care for around 25,000 Ascension Parish residents who had to travel to Baton Rouge last year to be treated.
