A Baton Rouge man is headed to prison after pleading guilty to charges related to the 2012 beating death of his eight-year-old son.

The boy, Xzayvion Riley, died of a ruptured intestine after suffering blunt force trauma to his abdomen.

The district attorney says that 52-year-old Michael Robertson pleaded guilty yesterday to manslaughter and cruelty to a juvenile. He was sentenced to 40 years in prison with six-and-a-half years credit for time already served awaiting trial, or in this case, his admission of guilt in a plea agreement with the state.
