It's been a long road to this happening, but the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport finally has a new permanent leader.
The East Baton Rouge Metro Council opted last night to hire Mike Edwards as Director of Aviation, a post he's been holding on an interim basis. WBRZ News 2 reports Edwards has more than a decade of airport management experience.
He says he looks forward to developing BTR as "an engine for economic development."
