Smartphones appear to have a good shot at becoming the new way to detect breast cancer genes.
LSU professor Matia Gartia has created a device that tests blood and saliva for the gene which can then be viewed from a smartphone.
The testing process costs $50 and Gartia tells WBRZ that the invention is meant to cut the cost of testing for many people and he hopes to implement it widely by 2020.
