A Baton Rouge man is facing multiple charges, including simple assault and public intimidation, after allegedly threatening a state trooper during a traffic stop.
Authorities say that 42-year-old Melvin Amar's vehicle was stopped Wednesday in the capital city for not having a license plate and Amar not wearing a seatbelt.
Matters got worse for Amar when he allegedly became agitated. He's accused of pointing his hand as if he were holding a gun and threatening to shoot the trooper, even referencing the mass shooting of Baton Rouge police officers two years ago.
