A man is back in custody after being on the run for the last 15 years.
Lonnie Payne, now 44-years-old, was able to escape from the East Feliciana Parish Prison in July 2003. He had been sentenced to serve 17 years on 15 counts of simple burglary.
Payne had gone through a checkpoint in Mexico on August 29th and gave security officials a fake ID. After being held in a Mexican jail for the last two weeks, he called the U.S. Consulate and revealed his real name.
He was picked up from the Mexican jail and taken back to Louisiana.
