Baton Rouge Murder Rate Spikes Over Weekend

Baton Rouge police are working at least three homicides that occurred over the weekend.

The victims include 45-year-old Heriberto Matute who was stabbed to death early Saturday during a suspected fistfight at an apartment complex off of Old Hammond Highway.

Separate shootings later in the day claimed the lives of 18-year-old Jaquincy Ross on Swan Avenue and 42-year-old Zirandall Turner, who was gunned down in the living room of his Jefferson Avenue home.

No arrests have been announced.
