10 p.m. Monday: No Change In Strength For Gordon

Tropical Storm Gordon continued to have maximum winds of 60 miles per hour Monday night while also showing signs of fighting some shear as it sprints through the Gulf of Mexico.

With fears that Gordon could intensify once pulling away from the Florida coast, the National Hurricane Center noted radar showed the small inner core of the storm losing some signs of organization.

However, the wind shear is expected to relax a bit as Gordon moves through the Gulf, and that could allow for strengthening, so the official forecast from the National Hurricane Center keeps the chance of the system reaching low-end category 1 hurricane strength before a second landfall along the Mississippi coast Tuesday night.

There were no changes to watches and warnings issued so far for Gordon along the Gulf Coast.
