Baker Cop's Firing Upheld By Civil Service Board

The firing of a Baker cop last year is being upheld by the city's Fire and Police Civil Service Board.

The decision in the termination of Sergeant Adam Procell came Thursday afternoon on a 3-2 vote.

It was in April 2017 that Procell opted not to arrest the son of the East Baton Rouge Parish sheriff even though he shot a snake to death in his backyard. Discharging a firearm within the Baker city limits is against the law.

Procell was later arrested but the district attorney refused to press charges.
